Julia Defiant (witch's child #2) by Catherine Egan - 5/5 stars

Image
Julia Defiant is the second book in the Witch’s child series. It was one superb sequel! It doesn’t happen often that the sequel to a book in a series/trilogy is better than its first instalment. Yet, here we are… Julia Defiant made me want to go back to my review for Julia Vanishes and lower the scoring I gave. Not because Julia Vanishes wasn’t good, but because Julia Defiant was so much better! I managed to finish this beauty in two sittings. Are you a fan of YA fantasy? Read this series. The first book is ok, the second is phenomenal! I can’t wait for the third book to come out in 2018 (here is hoping it will be as great as the second book!!!!). So… for the details J Julia is an awesome main character. It is easy to relate to her. Her emotions and actions feel real. In her shoes, my choices would not be too different. She is smart, loyal, and brave. But she is also angry, afraid and at times too quick to act. She grew a lot throughout Julia Vanishes and she continues to do so her…

Weregirl and Chimera by C.D. Bell [arc review]

I should have written a review here for Weregirl long time ago, but I guess posting a review on both the first and second book in a series at the same time has its advantages! 😊
WEREGIRL 4.4/5 For the book blurb: Weregirl
One of these days, Nessa, you’re going to stop running for no reason and start chasing after something more fun.

It is a little difficult to review Weregirl, and it baffles me every time I think about it... I sat on my couch to read it and kept thinking to myself:"yah...its good, not amazing, but good". Then I looked at the clock and 5 hours have gone by... I was only a few pages away from the end. It was 2 am and I most certainly should be in bed. Humm... what? how?  So... is the book amazing? Well... any book that can make you lose track of time like that is amazing on my eyes. I guess since its a shape-shifting story small parts of it are a tad predictable, and perhaps that is what made me think it was just ok while reading the first half of the book. Bu…

A Book of Spirits and Thieves #1 & #2 by Morgan Rhodes

For the Book Blurbs: A Book of Spirits and Thieves 5/5 stars The Darkest Magic 4.5/5 stars
Morgan Rhodes is, no shadow of doubt, one of my top 5 favorite authors of all time. When it comes to YA fantasy the woman always delivers!  She has this amazing ability to hook you on a book from the very start. And the quotes you get out of it... OMG!!! Here is one:

"Tears aren't just for babies. They're proof that you feel something and aren't afraid to show it. It's those who won't ever allow themselves to cry that are the weak ones."
True that!
I could praise Morgan Rhodes the whole day, so let's start this review before you all get bored of me.
The books tell a story of two sisters and of two parallel universes...
In modern day Toronto there is a book that put one of the sisters -Becca- in a coma; A guy who claims to be a god and can control people, he leads a ultra-secret society and seeks the book that put Becca in a coma; Two brothers struggling to cope wi…
